Ever since I was 14-years old I’d always wanted a base-model VK SS Commodore, and when this one popped up about 12 years ago, I knew I had to have it.
It took my fancy for a couple of reasons, mainly because it’s pumping out about 400-horsepower thanks to a fair bit of work to the motor such as later model VN heads and a bigger cam-shaft.
It also came with a five-speed manual, Borg Warner diff and full Series 2 Group 3 interior trim – it just had everything that I wanted in a car.
It wasn’t a done deal straight away though, it took me three months to convince the previous owner to sell it to me!
I’m very glad he did eventually sell it to me though, because I absolutely love this car, it’s just awesome to drive, and it’s got heaps of grunt.
Don’t get me wrong, I love original cars that are kept stock-as-a-rock, but for me, I like to have a little bit extra, because it’s a lot more fun.
