Mansour Dayoub
1969 Dodge Charger
The first-ever first place was awarded to Mansour Dayoub for his 1969 Dodge Charger. The paint and panel man – he runs LSR Auto Body in Sydney’s Artarmon – has just completed a two-year restoration on the big Charger. "My son and I did all the work on this and if it wasn’t for my son, I wouldn’t have done it! It’s a tricky three-layer pearl paint that took three months! "I’ve had a few other nice cars, such as a HQ Holden, and I might do a Daytona next." The Charger’s power comes from a 408-cube stroker and Torqueflite box.
David Swarbrick
1969 Mustang Mach 1
This bloke has the coolest number plates: ‘BIG V8’ hangs proudly from the front and rear of David Swarbrick’s blue ’69 Mustang Mach 1. A mechanic by trade, David has only recently completed a five-year restoration on the Mach 1 which was a US-import hiding lots of rust and damage despite being ‘restored’ in the US. The photos of David’s resto are astonishing, with the car being stripped past rolling shell, right down to the chassis rails in the boot. Look for a full feature soon.
Albert Calci
Ford XR Fairmont
Albert Calci has owned his XR Fairmont for around 14 years.
"It’s part of the furniture!" laughs Albert. ‘I did it up like this when I first bought it, in around 2003, but it’s an ongoing project.. It never ends!" Recent work has been to replace the Tremec manual with an Al’s Race Glides C10 auto. Street driven on many sunny Sundays, the cool cruiser Fairmont has laid down a stout 11.2 at 119mph at Sydney Dragway.
