The best of Mac's Bridge 2016: Larry Macfarlane's Porsche RS 2.7

Porsche RS 2.7

One of six RS 911 Carreras originally imported to Australia and 1580 made, this car was used as personal transport by Porsche importer Alan Hamilton. Escaping use as a serious competition vehicle helped ensure that it survived intact until bought by its current owner around 18 years ago.

It became part a comprehensive Porsche collection dating back to the 1950 and that now includes the 934 entered by Hamilton and driven by Allan Moffat that won the 1981 Australian Sports Car Championship.

"Amazingly I found the blue RS in Brisbane," owner Larry Macfarlane recalled. "Everybody told me I was paying too much but my response was ‘Well, find me another one’ and I was fortunate to get the car when I did."

It is one of just a handful originally painted Olympic Blue and is in remarkable condition for its 43 years. At Mac’s Bridge the Carrera RS took out the trophy for ‘Best European Car’.
