Grade A Group A
After watching the spectacle that was the 1987 Bathurst 1000 and seeing the HDT Racing VL Group A Holden Commodore driven by Peter McLeod, Peter Brock and David Parsons win the race, I just knew that one day I’d have to own one.
My son was born the same year, so funds weren’t going to permit that right away, but the want for the car never died.
So, about a decade-and-a-half ago, the search for my dream car began.
It was quite the process trying to find the right one, what with there only being 500 ever made, and I wanted the optional ‘Plus Pack’ variant, which made things even more difficult.
I’d looked at a fair few cars, including interstate vehicles, and nothing ever really came up exactly the way I wanted it.
Then, about 12 years ago, I saw a very small online ad for a Group A Plus Pack that was only a 15-minute drive away from my house.
I’d been dragging my wife all over the country with me trying to find one of these cars, and when we walked up the driveway and saw this one, we both instantly fell in love with it, and she said “If you don’t buy this one, don’t look at any more”.
So, this was the car for me, its build number 252 and I absolutely adore it.
