Rarities are set to be the stars at Donington Winter auction

Rarities are the spice of life at Donington’s on-line ‘Classic & Collector Car Auction’, to be staged from June 8 to 21.

In stark contrast, a 2009 Morgan Aero 8 Series 4 – one of only a handful in the country – is being offered, alongside an equally cool but somewhat larger 1979 Airstream Excella Motorhome, believed to be the only example in the country.

Unlike the Airstream caravans, which are rare in themselves but nonetheless there are a number here, the Airstream Excella motorhome is self-contained and can be driven under its own power.

Rarities too include a 1965 Maserati Mistral 3.7 coupe with notable Australian owner provenance, and a pair of Jensens … a 1971 Interceptor Mk II and magazine-featured fully-restored 1971 Jensen-Healey.

There are no fewer than six Lancias up for bidding in Donington’s auction, a trio of Flavias – two coupes and a Berlina sedan – and a Fulvia Berlina sedan, plus a 1926 Lambda 6th Series Torpedo tourer.

Donington’s ‘Classic & Collector Car Auction’ will also offer a very nice 2008 Audi R8 with full carbon kit and R-Tronic transmission.

The late Brian Sampson’s lovely 1964 Elva-BMW Mk VIII ‘S’ historic racer is up for grabs too, along with his almost as well-known 1970 International C1300 truck and transporter/trailer combination.

Fans of Australian muscle cars will be excited by the 1970 Holden HG Monaro GTS 350 which is being offered at No Reserve, while for those who like their Holdens a bit older, there’s a largely original 1953 FJ Sedan.

British car fans will be delighted by the 1961 MGA 1600 Mk II roadster – possibly the best example in the country – and the pair of early Rolls-Royces, a 20/20 from 1924 and a 20/25 from 1931.

There’s also a nice 1968 MGB Mk II roadster, a rare 1951 Daimler DB18 Special Sports Drophead Coupe, and two Jaguar XJ6s, a 1969 Series 1 manual and a 1976 Series II.

Adding to the eclectic mix of lots being offered in the Donington auction, there’s a 1965 Land Rover 88 SWB Series IIA, a 1928 Stutz Model BB Vertical Eight coupe, a 1957 Ford Thunderbird coupe, a rare 2007 Chrysler 300C Touring station wagon and a 1966 Ford Cortina Mark 1 GT sedan.

For those enthusiasts looking for a project, a 1962 Jaguar E-type 3.8 FHC coupe will also be up for offer in the ‘Classic & Collector Car Auction’.

Bidding will be on-line from 8 June to 21 June. Go to: www.doningtonauctions.com.au
