Live auctions might be on hold right now but the action scene continues to bustle along with online events. Here are some recent highlights
1993 Porsche 964 Turbo
Sold: $296,000
Bonhams, Bicester
Bonhams in the UK is clearly feeling upbeat after a big sale at Bicester on July 25. There was no live event, however the firm was fielding telephone and online bids, with a sell-through rate of over 70 per cent. This 3.6 litre turbo came with a solid service history and was showing around 58,000 miles (under 100,000km). Overall condition was rated as 4/5, so very good, though not concours.
1973 Ford Falcon RPO83 coupe
Sold: $300,909
Graysonline, Qld
Parked over three decades ago, this hardtop has become infamous for doing nothing for several decades, other than quietly rotting away behind a chicken wire barrier. Of course it eventually became known as the Chicken Coupe and the owner has finally relented and let the car move on. It scored incredible interest and a mind-boggling price, given it’s going to need a complete (and expensive) restoration.

1961 Jaguar MkII 3.8
Sold: $54,000
Donnington, Binalong
The Binalong museum auction, run by Donington, finally got off the ground after a Covid-forced delay. One of the impressive results was for this Jaguar, well above the pre-sale estimate of $33-39,000. If you’re into old Jags, this is one of the
models to have as the big six and four-speed manual spec mimics what Bob Jane used to dominate local touring car racing.
1927 Bentley 3-litre Speed
Sold: $408,000
Bonhams, Bicester
Somewhat less truck-like in apperance than some of its famous later stablemates, this comparitively delicate roadster still pulled serious bidding. Like many Bentleys of the period, it started life with a saloon body and was converted by a later owner with more racy ambitions. The engine was a high-tech thing for its day, running four valves in each of its four cylinders, overhead cam, along with twin magnetos and twin carburettors.
