Good news for owners of Tempesrts and GTOs
Pontiac Bonneville/Grand Prix/GTO 1964-72
Peer through the window of a major metropolitan Holden dealer during the 1960s and you could well have seen at least one big, flashy imported Pontiac.
Well-off customers wanted more status than the local Parisienne could deliver and would spend big on a Bonneville or Grand Prix with 6.4 litres and lots of power-operated extras.
Some survive, more have arrived in the years since yet these cars cost the same in today’s market as a Parisienne.
Good news for owners of the mid-sized Tempest and derivative GTO – acknowledged as the original ‘muscle car’ – is that demand world-wide is up with prices finally climbing.
Pre-1968 values are up 20 per cent and Hardtops with triple carbs and manual transmission now sell above $80,000.
