Hot hatch pioneer
Collecting Cars has a Western Australia-based Peugeot 205 GTi on the market at the moment. The car is said to have had a lot of refurbishment work, including paint, interior trim and a major service (including belts) for the engine.
We spotted this model as a future classic back in 2013 and you can see that story here.
In fact, we’ve done a few pieces on this legendary hatch over the years and recommended it as a top buy as recently as last year. In that piece, we commented: “On the road the 205 GTi is a joy to drive – fast, agile and responsive to all driver inputs, handling more like a go kart than a hatch with room for four.” See it here.
This example, a 1990 series 1, gives the appearance of being ready to go. These are significant cars, credited with doing a lot to get the whole hot hatch sector up and running. There’s no question they now rate as highly collectible.
