Let’s revisit the lots of next month’s Gosford Classic Car auction, and take a closer look at some Aussie icons.
Earlier this week we previewed next month’s Gosford Classic Car auction, hosted by Pickles, and highlighted three headlining cars; including a 1977 Torana A9X, a 1999 Diablo SV, and a 1973 Aston Martin V8.
Given how varied and diverse the auction is however, we’ve decided to shine a further spotlight on some of our favourite lots.
Today, we’ll take a look at three Australian cars we think are deserving of your attention.
Keep an eye out on TradeUniqueCars.com.au over the coming days for our look at the US Muscle cars, German GT’s, and Italian thoroughbreds on offer.
Lot #2 – 1957 Holden FE
This FE Holden is likely one of the best-kept examples in the country. Having being recently restored, the car represents a time-capsule look at 50s Australian motoring.
The FE received a more reliable 12-volt electrical system, front stabiliser bar and an increased power output due to increased compression and bigger valves.
Restored in its original colour, the 138 “grey” six-cylinder is mated to a three-speed column shift, and is in running order.
The car comes with original owner’s manual.
Lot #25 – 1978 Ford Falcon XC Cobra
The XC Falcon was the third and final X-body Falcon and is an icon representing of the glory days of Australian Touring Cars.
“Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday”
Where the Red v Blue battles on the track, reflected the battles in the showrooms, each brand yearning to prove that their car was the one to buy.
This fully restored XC Cobra is number 202 of 400, and houses a fully rebuilt 4.9lt 302 Cleveland linked to a manual four-speed.
The car comes with all mechanical documentation as well as photos from the restoration, and is one of the hottest items for fans of the Blue Oval.
Lot #32 – 1964 Brabham BT11A F1 car
This one’s a bit left of field, but no less an extremely Unique Car.
This Brabham BT11A was built for Formula 1 in 1964. Sold new to the Mildren Racing Team, it was the fastest “Group M” car in the country.
This very car purportedly holds multiple lap records around the country and was the first car to lap Mount Panorama with an average speed of over 100mph, in 1967.
The car currently is in completely original though outstanding condition. The 2.5lt Coventry Climax engine was recently fully rebuilt, and the body has been fastidiously maintained.
The car’s first recorded race was at the New Zealand Grand Prix in 1965, and also found success in the Tasman and Goldstar racing series.
The car is supported by full racing, competition and history documentation, and even comes with its own custom trailer and spare parts.
