Big American coupe offers value
While we’ve seen the values of late sixties and seventies Australian V8 coupes soar past the $100k mark over the years, you can still find an American equivalent for around half that number.
This 1967 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme 4-4-2 (what a name!) is as good an example as any. The Cutlass moniker, and particularly the 4-4-2 designation, represented a major shift for the GM-owned Oldsmobile’s image from a conservative ‘pipe and slippers’ brand to something younger and far more racy.

Originally the 4-4-2 designation referred to four-barrel carburetter, four-speed manual, and twin exhausts. Over the generations, the four-speed manual requirement was dropped – many 4-4-2 cars came with autos.

We would expect this example, a 1967 hardtop, to be running a 400ci (6.4lt) V8. It seems to have been kept in very close to stock condition. Brooklands in Melbourne has this one, priced at $45,500.
