Pagoda roof classic
The Benz W113 SL series is rightly regarded as a design classic, with the distinctive Pagoda roof penned by Paul Bracq.
This is the model that turned collector interest to SL Benzes as a whole.
The series was built 1963071 running inline sixes of 2.3, 2.5 and then 2.8lt capacity. They were tied to a four-speed automatic or four- or five-speed manuals.
In a mini feature on the series, an owner notes: "My advice with these ones, since they’re particularly expensive with parts, is to buy the best one you can find. Go as much as you can afford – don’t try to buy a project and then spend all the money doing it up."
This example is an automatic and is with the Healey Factory in Melbourne, priced at $129,500.
