V8 manual

While classic chrome-bumper Aussie V8s have reached breath-taking price levels, there is still some good buying out there in later local hero cars.

Ford’s EB S-XR6 and S-XR8 series is a good example, where you can buy something interesting with a bit of performance at a fraction of the price of their older siblings.

According to our Glenn Torrens feature on EA-ED series Falcons: "Ford responding to Holden’s freshly injected 5.0-litre V8 option (from 1989) in VN Commodore/Calais and announced the relaunch of a V8 in the EB series Falcon/Fairlane/LTD in 1991, ending almost a decade’s absence of a Ford V8 in showrooms.

"The EB also included significant changes to the suspension tune to rid the car of its wallow and introduced new S-XR6 and S-XR8 models."

This 1992 EB S-XR8 claims to have had a full rotisserie respray, the engine reconditioned and a lot of other work. In most cases that lot would cost substantially more than the asking price of the car.

Located near Gympie in Qld, it’s a five-speed manual that’s claimed to be in good shape and is priced at $25,000.
