1981 Ford LTD - today's tempter
351 V8
There was a time when V8 Fairlanes and LTDs of various generations were a common enough sight on the road. They were particularly popular with sales reps and anyone else who travelled long distances for a living.
By the time this series had rolled around, the nameplates were attached to cars that looked much closer to the base Falcon. In a Fairlane feature we note: "When Ford Australia gambled its future on the XD Falcon it took a re-modelled Fairlane and LTD along for the ride."
This example rejoices in the 351 V8 with three-speed auto. It's a combo that will drink fuel at a prodigious rate, but that's unlikely to slow down a potential buyer.
Making it unusual is it's a Cartier version - just that little more upmarket - and seems to be very original.
The seller notes it may need a tidy-up in some areas, but overall it presents reasonably well.
Based in Brisbane, it's on the market for $35,000.
