Local luxury

With the HZ Holden range came Radial Tuned Suspension that transformed the ride and handling of all Holdens. The last of the HQ based models, with the HZ the Belmont was dropped making the Kingswood the entry model.

However, the flagship was still the luxurious and large Statesman. A standalone model it had competition from within in the shape of the new, smaller and luxurious Commodore SL/E. Engine options were a 3.3lt inline-six and 4.2 and 5.0lt V8s; with three trim levels, the Deville, the new mid-spec SL/E and the top-dog Caprice.

Finished in Palais white and red velour trim, this 1979 Statesman Deville is a two-owner, unrestored survivor with full service history. It features a 5.0lt V8 and Turbo 400 auto, has claims just 66,976km from new and is believed to be immaculate condition throughout. It claims no rust and the interior is as new. It's with Australian Muscle Car Sales at $65,000
