Sixties survivor

For many Australians, a 410 series Bluebird like this may have been the first time the Nissan/Datsun brand had crossed their radar. Examples were assembled locally and in New Zealand, with styling by none other than Pininfarina.

This was the early days of Japan makers developing serious inroads into export markets with cars like this offering a competitive level of equipment for their price range.

This 1964 example is running a 1200cc inline four pushrod motor, with a three-speed column-shift manual. The seller says electrical system has been converted to 12 volts – otherwise the car seems remarkably original.

While the interior has had a freshen-up, the exterior has been allowed to weather, which presents some interesting options for a would-be owner. It would be tempting to simply tidy it up a little and leave it largely as is. There’s no doubt a ‘survivor’ like this would be welcome at lots of car gatherings.

Located near Albury, it’s on the market for $8000.
