1960 Triumph Herald roadster - today's tempter
Brit convertible
If you go looking for the Triumph name out on the road these days, you’ll rarely see it on anything other than a motorcycle. But there was a time when the nameplate was attached to a fascinating range of product from a mainstream maker.
Featuring styling by none other than Giovanni Michelotti, the Herald was an attractive coupe or roadster that was financially in reach of a middle-class family and offered a little glamour.
Released in 1959, early versions like this had the 948cc inline four, which was soon upgraded to 1147. That was partnered with a four-speed manual transmission.
This example is unusual in being an unrestored survivor with a full history from new. It’s on the market in Sydney for $17,990 through Australian Muscle Cars Sales and is said to be generally in good condition.
