1981 Holden Statesman - today's tempter
WB De Ville
IF YOU are one of those people who misses an era when cars were more about brute force than airbags, a Statesman should hold huge appeal.
Available from the HQ series-on, the big brutes stood out in traffic as a long local luxury car which was typically ultra-reliable, comfortable and quick enough to do the job. Something you’d be happy to do an interstate trip with.
They clearly had their own fan club and the WB was the last hurrah of this line, though the name carried on into the Commodore era and with new body shapes.
This example in Sydney is running a 308 V8 with a mild cam and Edelbrock manifold, custom extractors and 650 carburettor. It’s running on 17-inch wheels. Nothing too radical, but enough to give it a little extra performance and a wider choice of rubber.
It’s with Pennant Hills Auto at $53,990
