Rally heroes and star road cars in the mix

Online auction house Collecting Cars has a fascinating mix of rally homologation specials and rare-over-here JDM models on the market. The auction runs till January 26.

Here is the company's summary of what's on offer...

1994 FORD ESCORT RS COSWORTH 

Developed primarily for the competitive FIA Group A class—a roster that includes such greats as the Lancia Delta Integrale, Subaru Impreza 22B STi, Lancer Evolution, and BMW E30 M3. Winning 10 rallies between 1993 and 1998. In that relatively short time, a host of legendary drivers including Carlos Sainz, François Delecour, and Tommi Mäkinen wheeled the Escort to its multiple victories. 

1998 SUBARU IMPREZA STI 22B 

Subaru built the limited production Impreza 22B STI to celebrate the automaker's 40th anniversary as well as its success in the World Rally Championship.  With only 425 produced (originally 424, but Subaru America was hiding one), it is one of the rarest Subarus out there. 

1978 MAZDA COSMO L LIMITED 13B 

This 1978 Mazda Cosmo L Limited is the successor to the famous rotary-powered Cosmo of the late 60s and early 70s. Originally styled to appeal to an American buyer, this Cosmo has traveled only 82,308 Km. 

1990 MAZDA EUNOS COSMO 20B 

Mazdas second wankel offering in the 1990s. These halo products for the company are prized for their engines. Just under 4,000 of these 20B engines were made, only offered in this body shape. 

2007 TOYOTA CENTURY V12 

The Toyota Century is a low production, home market model hand built to order for captains of industry, high ranking politicians, and frequently, the yakuza. The royal family’s car of choice, they’re V12 powered and lavishly equipped. 1GZ-FE is the only V12 Japan’s ever made. 

2004 SUBARU FORESTER STI 

The Forester STI was only sold in the Japanese Domestic Market, but the Impreza WRX STI underpinnings and dog carrying space. 

2006 SUBARU IMPREZA STI S204 

The Subaru Impreza S204 was a limited edition model of which only 600 were manufactured for the Japanese market. 

2012 SUBARU IMPREZA STI S206 

300 examples of the S206 were made, more or less guaranteeing it collectible status. Crown of the STI car, with engine, suspension, interior, and exterior upgrades.
