Updated 250 engine

While Ford's XL Falcon was a landmark model in the local corporate history, it was updates such as the XP and XM series which really cemented the reputation of the series.

As Dave Morley mentions in a feature on the later cars, "For the XM update, those engine choices were stretched to include the Super Pursuit, a 200 cubic-inch (3.3-litre) six while the 170 got a few more beans as standard.

"Of course, while the XM looks pretty much like an XL with a different grille, under the skin there were more than 1500 changes, including those beefed up front-end bits we were talking about. But there were also relocated rear-spring hangers, beefier axle shafts, stronger engine mounts and the old vacuum windscreen wipers were replaced by a two-speed electric system."

See the full feature here.

This example has had mechanical upgrades to a a 250V straight six and a four-speed manual. Located near Wagga in NSW, it's on the market for $30,000.
