2001 Mercedes-Benz SLK320 - today's tempter
Premium roadster
Codenamed R170, the Mercedes-Benz SLK compact roadster was a revelation for the German marque. It was lauded by the motoring media and snapped up by eager buyers.
Based on a shortened W202 C-class platform the SLK's party piece was the origami-like folding roof. The SLK shares many drivetrain and chassis components with the C-class and its wheelbase of 2400mm is identical to the famed 190SL and 300SL.
Chrysler used the platform on the Crossfire.
Both a four and six-cylinder engine were offered and this one sports the bigger of the two, a punchy 3.2lt V6 six, bolted to an auto gearbox.
For most of its life this SLK has lived in inner Melbourne and for its age is said to have low kms. According to the ad it's in original condition with unmarked silver paintwork and black leather trim. It comes with a full service history, invoices, and original books with an asking price of $18,500. See the details here.
