Ford Mustang Coupe - today's tempter

K-code car

Ford’s first-generation Mustang was wildly successful in the showrooms, from its launch in 1964. By the time this car was delivered, the coupe was being sold alongside the elegant fastback, presenting buyers with some interesting choices.

There were numerous levels of trim and engine specifrication –  the latter starting with a basic straight six. However it was the 289 V8 which really made this car’s reputation.

Even that powerplant was sold in varying states of tune.

This example claims to be a matching numbers K-code, which means it was ordered with a high-performance option in the power train. With a 271hp power claim, it’s running an auto transmission.

Brakes are still the original drums and the owner says it’s an older restoration in good shape, that comes with a RWC.

Our own experience with these csrs is they’re simple and robust, with seemingly unlimited spares availability. That makes them a very usable classic.

This example is located near Bundaberg in Queensland and is on the market for $70,000.
