Aussie muscle classic

The 1988 Seoul Olympics telecast saw the General bombard us with advertising for their new VN Commodore. The VN was the start of the second-gen family Holden and was physically bigger than the outgoing VL. Here's our guide.

This generation Commodore was also the first offering a ute. The top of the VN sports range, the SS has a 5.0lt V8 with 165 kW. Standard were a limited slip diff, manual or auto gearbox, FE2 sports suspension and unique alloy wheels. There was also a body kit, driving lights and SS decals. The interior sported a grey/red checker design.

This matching numbers 1991 SS was built in towards the end of the VN run and is finished in Atlas Grey. It has been log booked from new with documented service history and travelled 149,000 kms. The seller says it has remained largely standard since new and the asking price is $48,000. See it here.
