IRS version

FORD OZ copped a right old kicking over the shape of the AU Falcon, with its droopy front and rear lamps. However over time the AU has since developed a cult following.

The XR6 and XR8 variants did a lot to cheer up the looks and they have potential as long-term collectibles.

This AU III is very different in spec to an early basic Falcon, in that it has the VCT engine, independent rear end and, in this case, the Sportmatic auto.

There is a plausible argument that the six was a sharper and better-balanced drive than the eight, and you’ll find plenty of fans of this model thanks to the light weight.

This example would appear to have a good history with service records and relatively low miles.

Based in Sydney, it’s on the market for $20,000.

Staffer Dave Morley is a bit of a fan of XR6s – see his feature, here.
