Limited edition

If you've ever had the pleasure of driving a C3 Corvette, you'll notice they are anything but subtle and draw an incredible amount of attention.

This generation covered the transition from chrome to plastic bumper era, in part mandated by a change in USA design regs. For collectors, the chrome bumper cars generally fetch higher prices, however there are exceptions.

This is one of them, a 1978 tribute to the Indy Pace car of that year. Chevrolet ended up building 6500 of them, which may sound like a lot but is a drop in the ocean for the USA market. They were expensive, around 30 per cent more than a base model.

This car has typical spec: a 350ci (5.7lt) V8 up front tied to a four-speed manual.

As for the body, it features the T-top roof with its removable panels, plus the Indy decals that were provided with each of these cars. in the USA has a useful feature on this special edition, and you can find our most recent C3 buyer guide here.

The car is located near Brisbane, Qld, and is on the market for $64,500.
