Executive pack in good shape
It's not often you'll trip over a VL Commodore that hasn't been cut, shut, or modified, sometimes to within an inch of its life. However, this Executive has popped up on the market in Sydney.
The VL suffered some initial market resistance because Holden had given the old 202 six the flick in favour of a 3.0lt Nissan six.
Once people started driving them, however, they soon realised the new package was a big leap forward from its predecessor. It had quicker steering, better suspension response and the engine was smooth, powerful and supremely reliable.
Of course the turbo version went on to develop a whole following of its own.
We have a wealth of material we've published on this series, including:
A special on the turbo series, featuring a cop version;
A father/son resto story featuring a Calais and Series 200;
And a Reader Ride story on a turbo Series II.
This example is a normally-aspirated six with just 128,000km showing on the odo. It's said to be in good shape and is availabe through Pennant Hills Auto Traders in Sydney for $34,990.
