Sydney Motor Show special

There’s a one-off AMG C63 up for grabs at the current Grays classic auction, and it’s got a bit of history.

This was a 2010 Sydney Motor Show special, with a one-off paint job (Designo Pearl Orange with matt black trim) and what AMG was promoting as its Performance Pack Plus. That little package was priced at $15,000, offering different pistons, rods and lightened crank for a 22kW boost.

The 6.2lt 32-valve engine was tied to a seven-speed auto. Performance was a claimed 358kW @6800rpm and 600Nm @5000rpm. It was described by the testers as an "apocalyptic V8".

Back in 2010-11, it was listed at $165,000 as tested.

It appeared on the cover of Wheels magazine’s January 2011 issue, as part of a three-way contest between the BMW M3 and Audi RS5.

It later appeared in Unique Cars magazine (below), in an AMG-focussed feature.

Bidding was at $90,700 at the time of publishing, with four days to go. This will be a really interesting one to watch – see it here.
