Mitsubishi Galant wagon - today's tempter
Retro Japanese wagon would make an awesome club plate cruiser
Fancy treating yourself to a seriously cool, jump-in and ready to cruise chrome-bumpered Japanese classic? Then this 1976 Galant could fit the bill, and best of all it’s a wagon!
Finding any chrome-bumpered Japanese metal that isn’t a Datsun 1600 or 240Z (both now ludicrously expensive) in this day and age can be a challenge, especially if you want one that doesn’t need a serious amount of work.
This GD Galant appears to be a gem, as it presents beautifully in glossy green and the owner claims there’s absolutely no rust – and how cool are those beach-themed graphics!
It appears the car has had a thorough going over in recent times, with both the engine and five-cog manual gearbox being subject to a rebuild. The engine is a 4G52 2.0-litre four pot, which is known for being capable of up to 92kw in twin-carb form in the Galant GTO GSR and A115 Galant GS-II, and this one is wearing a set of rebuilt 42mm Weber side drafts, so it should be pretty pokey.
Other maintenance items ticked off the list include new tyres and front shocks, along with new door rubbers.
The roof rack and fender-mounted side mirrors are an awesome touch, and if you’re located in Qlueensland, where the car is, the owner will even sort you out with a RWC.
It’s up for grabs for $12,900, and you can view the full listing here.
