Ford XC Falcon wagon - today's low-mile tempter
Exceptional survivor
We could not resist bringing you this one: A 1977 XC Falcon 500 wagon with just 13,000km showing on the odometer.
And yes, it's the basic package with the inline 250ci (4.1lt) six and a three-on-the-tree manual transmission.
The seller says it was owned by the proverbial little old lady, who drove it sparingly as she had trouble seeing over the bonnet!
This series was an important one for Ford Australia. In an interview with Unique Cars mag, former Product Planner David Ford (no relation...) revealed:
"The biggest change was to the XC Falcon powertrain when we introduced the crossflow cylinder head on the six cylinder engine to gain a big step up over Holden.
"With the XC we wanted to get away from the Coke bottle rear so we lowered the belt line on the rear door as a step towards a more European concept. Back then anything European was good and anything American was crappy old stuff and we were trying to shift Falcon’s image."

Meanwhile the wagon for sale is located in Wellington NSW and is on the market for $37,500.
