True Brit with a famous motorcycle connection

If you happen to be an enthusiast of classic British motorcycles, this is your logical choice for a classic car.

Daimler's jewel-like 2.5lt V8 was designed by none other than Edward Turner, the famous name behind the Triumph motorcycle parallel twins, which lead to the legendary post-WWII Bonneville series.

Clearly the chassis and body are Jaguar in derivation, with the powerplant being the big point of difference. The interior is, as befitting a prestige car of the era, dripping with wood and leather.

This 1963 example in Melbourne has been given a freshen-up, particularly the paint, and is being offered by the Healey Factory for $28,500.

The same engine found its way into the diminutive SP250 sports car, aka the Daimler Dart. See our Reader Ride story on a Sydney-based example.
