Local 1990s luxury with HSV bite

HSV’s tuned-up offerings have always featured an added level of luxury, with the top of the range model for luxury (and usually price) being the Grange.

The name was first introduced with the VS series of Statesman/Caprice, and was HSV’s first proper stand-alone badge for the top-line long wheel base luxo barge, after dabbling in the previous VQ Statesman with the HSV enhanced 5000i, SV90 and SV93.

Our tempter for today is a 1996 VS Series II Grange, build number 93 running the 185i 185kw version of HSV’s upgraded 5.0-litre Holden V8, along with the four-speed self-shifter.

Being a Grange, it comes with all the luxury 1990s kit: Factory sunroof, climate control AC, slate grey leather trim, 10-speaker CD stacker, electric seats and power everything.

The car claims solid and original condition, with 145,000km clocked and all the original paperwork. And yes, before you ask – the original $600 bottle of Penfolds Hermitage wine is included (but sadly empty), gifted to all first buyers who put down the coin for a Grange.

The car is located in the western suburbs of Melbourne, and is for sale through Australian Muscle Car Sales for $49,500. You can view the listing here.
