Early 90s Ford muscle has aged well

The early 1990s was an important era for Ford Fans, as the EB Falcon marked the return of V8s to Falcons after Ford temporarily canned them with the XE Falcon.

While the EB Falcon S XR8 and later XR8 Sprint variant were hot motors in their day, the pinnacle of the EB range was the limited edition GT model. The EB GT’s launch in 1992 also the first Falcon to wear a GT badge since the XB almost 20 years prior.

While the Tickford developed GT sported a 200kW version of Ford’s 5.0-litre Windsor V8 and had a lairy V8 Supercar styled bodykit with flared wheel arches, it was actually built more as a luxury cruiser than a homologation special racer.

Today’s tempter is a build number 204 of 265, and is optioned with the five speed manual that only 115 GTs were blessed with.

With 141,000km on the ticker it has been used, but the seller claims a swathe of recent maintenance to hint at a car that has been very well maintained in nearly 30 years of service.

With prices of normal E-series XR8s quickly going north of $10-$15,000 in the last 12 months, the chance to own the first plastic-bumpered GT Falcon for far less than that of its old chrome siblings is a mighty tempting one, especially in this original condition.

It’s up for grabs for $53,995, and you can view the full listing here.
