Aussie muscle without the six-digit price tag

It may not be the wildly-expensive investment vehicle everyone imagines when you talk about limited edition Aussie muscle, but this XR8 nevertheless seems to have a lot going for it.

It's number 8 of 125, and luxuriates in the full title of the MkII Devil-R XR8. What that means is it was a special produced to celebrate two-on-the-trot V8 Supercar wins by Ford pilot Marcos Ambrose.

Under the distinctive paint it's a reasonably straight-forward package, with a 260kW 5.4lt V8 and six-speed manual transmission. 

This 2005 example claims to be in good condition with all the books and 64,500km on the odo.

Muscle Car Warehouse has this one at $32,000.
