Big numbers and some potential bargains
Prime lots in the current Shannons auction are attracting strong bidding and the online event closes tonight.
A good example which will suprise a few people is the 1965 Holden HD X2 Premier (lot 152), which Shannons describes as the best it has ever seen. Claiming just 50,000 miles, it comes loaded with period accessories and is in exceptional condition. Bidding was sitting at $106,000.
Something that may give American car owners a little heart is this 1969 Mach 1 Mustang (lot 125) has reached $100k and should go further. It's another prime example, with a 390 4V V8 in the snout .
If the idea of spending over $100k makes you blanche, this FPV GT-P (lot 145) looks like it could offer value. It was sitting on $39,500 and is build number 001.
As is often the case, it's the Euro cars that look like offering a lot for your hard-earned. This 1968 Fiat 124 AC Sports (lot 135) has a twin-cam engine and presents as a good project with bidding sitting on $14,600.
Also offering good potential bang for the buck and a little room for improvement is this rare (one of 800) 1987 Nissan Skyline GTS-R Hr31 (lot 133). It was sitting on $18,700 with no reserve.
