Holden VN Commodore SS - today's tempter
Lots of extras
In the last six or so years, the market fortunes have changed radically for the VN SS. As a result, values have climbed.
However they're still not anywhere near the league of premium Aussie chrome bumper models and so are still, in theory, accessible.
It was back in late 2018 that we first did a resto feature on this series, pointing out: "There’s no doubt Holden’s Commodore VN SS is one of the sleepers in the classic car market. For a while there, the demand was minimal, except among a few diehard fans. However that situation has changed radically over the last few years, with interest increasing – particularly since the cessation of local manufacturing – and with prices creeping up accordingly."
That doesn't mean a restored one is a licence to print money, but they are a fun drive that should hold some value.
This example in WA has clearly had a lot of coin thrown at it over the years. It's carrying pretty much every available option and has been converted from the factory auto to a T5 manual.
It's being sold via Australian Muscle Car Sales and is on the market for $40,000.
