1990 Mercedes-Benz 190E .5-16 Evolution II

THE DTM or German Touring Car Championship was the hottest series on the planet with factory teams from Mercedes, BMW and Audi dominating. Merc’s weapon was based on the 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution II, of which just 500 were made to meet homologation.
Powered by a 170kW 2.5lt 16-valve inline-four engine by Cosworth, it was bolted to a five-speed Getrag manual gearbox. This is number 146 that went to Japan before ending up in the States.

NOT ONLY is it a super rare D-Type with an extensive competition pedigree, this one has a list of famous names entwined in its history. It has many original components, including bodywork and matching-numbers engine and cylinder head and factory-correct Red with Red interior. It was purchased new from Bernie Ecclestone for £3500 by British racer Peter Blond with other celebrity owners being racer Jean Bloxham and Led Zeppelin manager Peter Grant.

THE TORANA XU-1 launched a young Peter Brock to superstardom and nine Bathurst classic wins, the first in 1972, driving solo in tricky conditions in the HDT LJ XU-1. This example is finished in Patina Gold and shows an incredibly low 44,972kms on the clock. It has been resprayed but the interior is said to be original.

HARNESSING THE APPEAL of the 240Z Datsun added a bigger engine and two more seats into the 260Z 2+2. This example has had a complete ground up resto in and presents as good as when new. Bolted to the five speed manual and providing the power to the rear wheels is a 2.6 litre engine. A revelation when launched, these early zed cars are highly prized and skyrocketing in value.

A THREE-WHEELER Reliant Regal Supervan from the popular 1980’s British sitcom "Only Fools and Horses" is set to go under the hammer at Silverstone Auctions (UK) in mid-March. It is one of the most recognised vehicles on British television. The yellow Reliant starred alongside David Jason (Del Boy) and Nicholas Lyndhurst (Rodney). The van was used to store Trotters Independent Traders’ stock and transport the family to several destinations.
