GT-HO Phase III heads Ford fest at Graysonline
First 24 hours sees strong bidding
Graysonline has a big collectible car auction happening at the moment, with an example of the iconic Falcon GT-HO Phase III headlining a remarkable line-up of Aussie Fords.
Auction Manager Bill Freeman says the bidding even at this early stage has been incredibly strong even though the auction still has several days to go. It closes next Tuesday.
The matching numbers 1971 Phase III is in Vermillion Fire, runs the expected 351 with manual trans and nine-inch diff and looks to be in great condition. Bidding for this one has already reached $350,000 and can be expected to soar from there. This has long been the ultimate 'get' for local collectors.
In addition, there are four hardtops of varying types. First up is this 1978 Cobra. It's a 5.8lt manual that appears to be nicely presented. Bidding has topped $150,000 and will keep going.
From there you're spoiled for choice. This 1977 maroon coupe is also running a 5.8lt V8 with manual. Bidding has passed $80,000.
This smart-looking 1974 GT tribute car, with V8 and auto, should attract plenty of interest and certainly looks the part.
Last on this special list is a 1972 XA GT coupe with the 5.8lt powerplant and manual trans. It's complete and looks like it would benefit from a bit of a tidy-up. In any case a very desirable project.
If Ford isn't your thing, never fear – there is in fact a big variety of toys on offer and it's well worth a look.
