While local Ford GTs become increasingly expensive, American muscle cars have been offering some serious value in recent years.

If you're a Ford fan, Mustang is the obvious choice, which means cars like this Mercury often get overlooked. 

It's a comparitively rare variant, an Eliminator, which ran significant chassis tweaks when compared to the mainstream models. And you have to say it looks the part of a 'proper' muscle car.

This 1969 example is being brought in by a NSW importer, which reports the Cougar to be in good if not show-winning condition. That may be a blessing if you're planning to actually use the car. It's priced at $59,000.
