Ford XC Fairmont 302 - today's tempter
Low-stress classic
If you were looking for a low-stress classic that would happily tackle an interstate trip to your favourite car show, it's pretty hard to beat a seventies Aussie V8.
This 1977 Fairmont with 302 and auto looks like it would fit the bill, assuming it passed all the tests, including a check for rust.
As a series, they're robust, easy enough to look after and support for mechanical parts is excellent.
By the late seventies, the Falcon was facing stiff compeition, highlighted in our history of the XA-XC series:
"This improved XC had to face a challenge not only from the HZ Holdens but also, as of November 1978, from the new Commodore. The marketing team focused on interior space which was probably the strongest reason to choose a Falcon over the smaller Commodore."
This example looks pretty complete and original, and is located in South Australia. It's priced at $50,000
