Mercedes-Benz CLK55 - today's V8 hotshot tempter
Benz coupe by AMG
Here's living proof that you sometimes get a hell of a lot of bang for your buck in top-spec Euro cars. This 2000 CLK55 is an AMG hotrod and once would have set the owner back somewhere around $200k.
Today, it's on the market for around 20 per cent of that – $39,000.
This one appears to be a very long way from worn out. The seller claims 74,000km, which is nothing these days, and that the car is in 'showroom' condition.
Also, it claims all the appropriate servicing and documents.
Back 20 years ago, this was a serious hotshot from the Benz crew, claiming 342hp (254kW) from the 5.4lt V8. The drivetrain included a five-speed auto shared with the V12 models and a beefed-up differential.
That lot was said to be good for a 0-100km/h sprint of under five seconds - so quick enough.
The car is in Queensland (Noosa) and the vanity numberplates are offered seperately.
