Harvey Holden A9X Torana for auction
Former HDT touring car on the market
A Torana A9X driven by John Harvey in the 1977-79 touring car seasons is on the block at Lloyds Auctions in Queensland.
As a road car the A9X coupe has long been seen as one of the most desirable Holdens of all time with prices for good hatchbacks soaring past $200,000.
However the race history claimed by this example has seen bidding reach $735,000 with two days to go.
"Arguably one of the most important pieces of Australian Motor Racing History to go under the hammer in some time, this car is presented in the correct HDT Marlboro livery bearing #76 and running as good as the old days thundering around the tracks," said Lee Hames of Lloyds Auctions.
Ed's note: the car subsequently sold for $910,000, according to Lloyds.
