Beautiful high-spec VG Valiant hardtop: 245ci, auto, lots of recent works, ready to drive

The new-for-1970 VG Valiant represented an incremental facelift with only minor visual changes to show. Rectangular headlamps, restyled tail lights and a simplified grille were the crux of the new look Valiant, but the big news came under the bonnet.

"After five years development… Chrysler Australia has introduced a completely new six-cylinder engine to give its 1970 Valiant range a power and fuel economy advantage over all other six-cylinder engine cars produced in Australia" claimed Chrysler material at the time.

That new engine was the 245ci hemi-six, one of the best of its time and a true fan favourite to this day. Three variations of the 245 were available throughout the range, along with the old 318ci V8 and old 225ci slant-six.

This beautiful Hardtop comes to market in high-spec 770 Regal trim which, if you didn’t shell out for the fancy Pacer, was the highest-available six-cylinder spec available.

Fitted with the 245 hemi-six and three-speed auto, the sellers assert that the VG Valiant Regal has recently returned to the road after being stored unused for some time.

Recent works include: rebuilt front suspension, overhauled brakes, auto electrical work, new front parking light and indicator lenses, new whitewall tyres, new carpets, headlining, seatbelts, re-trimmed front seats, re-chromed front and rear bumpers and a wheel alignment and tune.

Overall, it looks like a fine and very-presentable example of a VG Valiant hardtop, and will surely appeal to those after an original locally-made coupe.

The VG Valiant hardtop is based in Victoria and is listed for $45,000.
