Build #2 of around 33 Wayne Gardner Racing road cars built in the late 90s

It was our brothers at Street Machine who broke the news in 1996, that ex-world bike champ and celebrated V8 supercar racer Wayne Gardner was set to launch a range of WGR-branded road cars filled with bespoke appearance and performance modifications.

It was a race team that opened the doors to the public, in similar ethos to Peter Brock and HDT. The idea seemed sound, and the cars looked hot; but unfortunately, the numbers didn’t stack up – and with circulating rumours of pressure from HSV – the project folded with just approximately 33 cars produced.

This one on sale amazingly succeeds the first red car linked above, and is build #2. It’s believed to have been Wayne Gardner’s personal car as he is listed as the original owner in the log book.

WGR road cars came in three equipment levels, S1, S2, and S3 with S3 being the entry-level model.

This one, as a Wayne Gardner-owned car, comes fully loaded in S1 trim with various modifications made both outside and in.
