So, how’s your HQ resto going? As we all know, it’s often the finishing touches that drive us crazy, So here’s a part that might speed up the process. It’s an HQ GTS fascia from the good folk at Muscle Car Parts in Moorebank NSW. It’s a new reproduction piece and costs $245. Might be just the ticket if you’re doing a feshen-up on the cabin. This crew has an extensive list of gear for inside and outside the car, across a lot of brands, so it’s worth visitng the website.

This would make a pretty nice gift for someone as well as having a practical use. It’s a panel-beater set of hammers, dollies and spoons from Hare & Forbes. The blurb says, in part: They are designed and manufactured from drop forged heat treated steel with ground and polished faces for metal shaping, and used by professional restoration panel beaters. This kit is tagged as the ABR-10M and is priced at $352 including GST.

Our mates over at Street Machine mag have a bit of a sale going for kids Drag Challenge T-shirts, featuring their patented feral koala in a feral Holden at just $20. There is lots of other good gear available at the shop, including Unique Cars’ own Muscle Car book. Hats, shirts, stubbie coolers...lots of stuff to play with.

4. Elfin book

Built in a Besser block factory in suburban Adelaide, Elfin’s products were at the vanguard of competitive Australian motorsport from the late 1950s until the premature death of founder Garrie Cooper, at just 46 years of age in 1982.

From spritely sports cars to ferocious V8-powered Formula 5000s, the cars scored numerous Australian titles. You can get a taste of the story on page 86. Two different editions of this substantial book are available from $198.

5. Water coil

Clearly we don’t do enough water crossings here at Unique Cars mag, because we have to admit we weren’t sure what a submersible ignition coil was used for. A submarine, perhaps? Apparently they’re popular for super-serious off-roaders, particularly, gadgets like Unimogs. Performance Ignition is carrying this Bosch new-old stock for a mere $40. But not for submarines.

6. Wilwood BrakesR:\Web\WebTeam\Mary\Motoring\UC 442\gearbox\wilwood-brakes.jpg

Wilwood Brakes have become the go-to solution for lots of builds these days, particularly American and Aussie cars. This lot carried by Mustang Motorsport includes AERO6 series front calipers and AERO4 rears, with the intention of slipping straight on to a late model Mustang while retaining the existing electronics. And yes, it’s designed to work with performance upgrades. A set costs $7150 and installation can be organised for you.
