An icon of 70s Australiana, the panel van remains hot property for collectors thanks to its versatile utilitarian nature and its youthful surf culture charm.

Naturally though, they are rare to find as many earned their living carrying ladders, paint tins and tools before they were unceremoniously left at the tip, or in a rural paddock.

This one caught our eye on our classifieds as a seemingly well-priced Kingswood panel van described to be in ‘very good original condition’ by the seller.

There is some information missing unfortunately: the listing states that the Kingswood is powered by a six-cylinder (though size is not stated), mated to an automatic transmission.

It’s not stated what year it is, but it looks to be a HZ Kingswood (produced 1977 to 1980), judging from what we can see of the grille.

It looks to be in pretty good condition overall however; seemingly intact with clean door jambs and a nicely presented brown vinyl interior.

The HZ is remembered as the last of the traditional full-size Holdens, and famously gained the transformative ‘Radial Tuned Suspension’. They’re quite simple, relatively easy to maintain and are supported by a wealth of passionate enthusiast and mechanical knowledge.

You can find this Kingswood Panel Van in Tasmania, listed for $25,000.
