The 'Chicken Coupe' XA GT RPO83 hardtop auctioned by Grays Online last night exceeded expectations by fetching a final bid of $300,909.

Parked over three decades ago, this hardtop has become infamous for doing nothing for several decades, other than quietly rotting away behind a chicken wire barrier.

Of course it eventually became known as the Chicken Coupe and the owner has finally relented and let the car move on.

It scored incredible interest and a mind-boggling price, given it's going to need a complete (and expensive) restoration.
