Code 333 Calais: 5.0lt V8 and Trimatic Auto, numbers-correct, refurbished interior and more

The VK marked a huge transition for the Commodore; and the most radical redesign since the original VB of 1978.

The VK arrived in March 1984, and kicked off the Commodore’s plastic bumper era, along with a new three-slat grille and distinctive six-window glasshouse.

The small displacement engine options were dropped, with the new base six-cylinder being the 3.3lt now available with a five-speed manual as an option. Likewise, the smallest 4.2lt V8 was also dropped from the range.

The SL remained the base trim, while the Berlina replaced the mid-range SL/X, and Calais replaced the top-spec SL/E.

This Holden VK comes to market in Calais trim, and as an original and numbers-correct 5.0lt V8 and three-speed Trimatic auto, denoted by the chassis code 333.

The body is finished in Cedar Red with factory sunroof, while the factory Coppertone interior has been refurbished with a new headliner (genuine material), whilst still retaining its original steering wheel and Eurovox cassete radio.

The VK Calais has also had its factory air-conditioning refurbished, had new strut bearings fitted, along with new boot carpet and new brake rotors and pads.

The photos attached to the listing show a very presentable vehicle throughout with only a set of OEM wheels needed to have a seriously sweet original VK.

The car shows 236,000kms on the odometer and is based in New South Wales.

The VK Calais is listed for $44,990 and you can check out the full listing here!
