1980 Ford Falcon XD S-Pack – Today’s Tempter
Fitted with built 5.0lt Windsor, but comes with original numbers-correct six-cylinder: new paint and re-trimmed interior
Ford’s XD Falcon landed in 1979 as a boxy departure from the preceding ‘coke bottle’ cars.
The new XD was praised at launch for its forward and modern styling, winning a local design award in its wake, before being superseded in 1982.
Ford’s launch of the XD was well-timed, coinciding with Holden’s axing of the Kingswood and its switch to the downsized Commodore amidst a global oil scare. Ford stuck to its full-sized guns with the XD, and was rewarded with 5000 sales per month at its peak.
While the body was all-new, much of the mechanicals were carried over from the XC Falcon.
This XD is a factory Sno White S-pack originally specified with the 4.1lt six-cylinder and four-speed manual.
The car has received a significant amount of work and improvement, and is now fitted with a built 5.0lt roller cam Windsor V8. However, the current owner has retained the original numbers-correct six-cylinder as well as the S-pack wheels; and will be included in the sale should its new owner seek to return the car to factory specification.
The body has been repainted in its factory colour of Snow White with Orang pinstriping, while the Palomino interior has been retrimmed and seems to present very well.
The seller states that they have refurbished the car extensively over two and a half years, with many photos and receipts from the build for any interested parties.
They are putting the XD up for sale to fund and finish another project.
If this XD Falcon tickles your fancy, you can find it in Queensland and listed for $28,000 (or nearest offer).
