XE S-pack in seemingly highly original and very clean condition

Ford’s XE Falcon of 1982 is a car of contrast: some remember it as the end of Ford’s classic V8, but it was also celebrated as the car that tipped GMH off the top of the sales charts.

The XE was significantly improved over the outgoing XD as well; particularly in regards to suspension tuning and NVH, with new four-link coil sprung suspension for the sedans and more value-filled packaging throughout the range.

Ford emphasised the scope and reliability of the 4.1lt inline-six with tests and public exhibitions. Most notably Ford held a 24-hour endurance trial clocking an average speed of 176km/h around Ford’s then-new You Yangs proving ground,

XE Falcon buyers could opt for the 3.3lt or the 4.1lt inline-six, with the option of fuel injection available for the latter and larger option. Most XEs are found with three or four-speed manuals, or three-speed automatics; although the XE was the first Falcon to offer a five-speed manual, although only available on the smaller 3.3lt.

This S-pack XE Falcon we spotted on our classifieds is described as a two-owner rust and damage free car.

It was sold new to Kloster Ford in Newcastle, delivered (and still fitted) with the 4.1lt EFI six-cylinder and four-speed manual.  A Ford verification letter accompanies the car and shows original specification and options.

Despite Newcastle delivery, the car has spent much of its life in Queensland, and presents in highly original and well-kept condition throughout.

The car has received a ‘closed-door’ respray in original Monza red, although original paint can be observed in the door jambs, engine bay etc.

While it currently sits on Simmons FR wheels, the XE Falcon will also come with its original dress wheels and centre caps.

If the car is as it’s described, it might be worth a look!

The XE S-pack is based in Queensland and is listed for $34,000.
