Auction highlights from around the world...

1985 BMW M635 CSI

Sold: A$46,580 Classic Car Auctions

Wow. What a bargain for an all-time classic Beemer coupe. This 1985 model has the sweet 24-valve, 286hp 3.5-litre straight six bolted to a manual gearbox.

A right-hand drive example with 55,000kms finished in Zinnober Red with a black leather interior. It has tweaked suspension, bigger brakes, a close-ratio five-speed gearbox and LSD.

Open air cruising back in the ‘50s was done with a great deal of panache and not a lot of speed as this wasn’t the focus back in the day. So while this Chev Bel Air has a 283ci V8 in its snout bolted to a manual transmission, nosebleed from acceleration was never a concern. This example has undergone a recent mechanical and body restoration and rides on whitewall tyres. Inside is red vinyl trim with silver accents.

2014 Chevrolet SS Sedan

Sold: A$40,558
Bring a Trailer

We call it a Commodore SS and despite its NASCAR links it hasn't set the world on fire Stateside. Like here the SS features the familiar 6.2lt V8 bolted to a 6-speed manual. A few options have been fitted including a sunroof, heated and ventilated seats, and an aftermarket cold-air intake. It shows 55kms on the clock. Finished in Phantom Black with matching black leather and alcantara interior it has a decklid spoiler, heated mirrors, 19" alloys and Brembo brakes.

1982 Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk1

Sold: A$30,170
Classic Car Auctions

This is where the second phenomenon started for VW, the first being the beetle. The Golf GTI established the hot hatch segment that is so strong today.

This example was with its first owner for over 37 years and has been very well cared for, being, according to the bumf in near concours condition. It is in original condition has travelled a total of 78, 811 miles and recently received all new belts and a service.

HSV Holden GTS Commodore 325kw sedan

2011 Shannons online auction 2020
LOT tba May 27 2020
Estimate AUD $55,000-$65,000

R:\Web\WebTeam\Mary\Motoring\UC 439\auction\hsv.jpg

Distinctive. That best describes 2011 HSV Holden GTS Commodore in Shannons upcoming online auction. Finished in gleaming silver with contrasting black interior this model packs a sizable punch with 325 kilowatts of V8 muscle under your right foot. Its top speed is something like you’d normally see at Bathurst in October during the 1000-kilometre thrash around the mountain by the Supercars. However like a supercar the GTS isn’t a stripped out special.

Limited in numbers sure, but chock full of comfort and class and with a host of goodies as long as your arm. Being an HSV means it will be probably be highly sought after, especially with a very realistic estimate of $55-$65,000. Register to bid at Shannons.com.au
