Nicely preserved XW ute, two-owners from new and in good original condition

Ford’s XW Falcon of 1969 arrived as such a significant facelift of the XR/XT that many believed it was an all-new model.

In truth, the same basic architecture was carried over; though virtually every panel was new with the XW receiving new split-lens tail lamps, recessed rear window and the new ‘power mouth’ grille. Inside the interior was almost entirely redesigned.

Many of the mechanical and driveline options were carried over as well; though of course the XW will be remembered for the first appearance of the fearsome 351ci V8s; to soon take the GT Falcon legend to new heights.

But not every early Falcon is a big V8 car, and collectors and classic car enthusiasts are increasingly turning to lower-spec cars that most would have dismissed decades ago.

This XW ute looks like a solid example, and should be of interest to anyone after an honest old Aussie workhorse.

It’s  Falcon 500 ute that is described by the sellers as a two-owner car with log books and low miles (pictured at 31,000 miles).

It is coated in Shadow Grey over saddle trim, and is specified with a 221ci inline-six coupled to a three-speed column-shift manual.

The ute is very indicative of the countless commercial utes that would have earned their living back throughout the 70s, and is said to be in "very good original condition".

If you’re looking for your own classic load-lugger; you can find this XW in New South Wales, and listed for $40,000.
